Elizabeth Ring
In 2009, the volunteers of the boat building program at Florida Maritime Museum at Cortez, guided by Boat Builder Bob Pitt, built an 18 ft skiff with a 48 inch beam for Randy Fowler, David Persson, and Bill Pomeroy. Bob took the design of a 12 ft skiff by early Fogartyville boat builder, Bat Fogarty, and stretched the boat to suit the new owners’ needs. The result was a sleek, attractive skiff named the Elizabeth Ring. She was so good looking that she was taken to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s 27th Annual Mid-Atlantic Small Craft Festival at St Michaels, MD. She won the People’s Choice in competition over the more than 150 boats entered. This was the third Peoples Choice award won by the museum and the second in a row. Here are some of her photos:
