"There is nothing----absolutely nothing----half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats...or with boats....In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter." From Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Graham
About Us
Welcome to the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association. We are affiliated with the Florida Maritime Museum at Cortez and Florida Institute of Saltwater Heritage (F.I.S.H.) located on the sunny shores of Southwest Florida on Sarasota Bay just west of Bradenton.
Our members are interested in boatbuilding, messabouts, rowing, paddling, sailing, techniques, equipment and maritime history.
Read all about our Great Florida Small Craft Festival that takes place every year in April.
At the museum, boat building projects are underway every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Cortez Community Center. Drop by to chat or LEND A HAND. The address is 4523 123rd Street Court West, Cortez, FL (See map below).
